‘Exceptionally happy’ – BSIP support for Lincolnshire welcomed

Improvements to Brylaine Travel services in Lincolnshire, are being made using BSIP funding. The announcement follows a similar bus boost for PC Coaches and Stagecoach East Midlands made using the funding.

Brylaine’s ‘Boston into Town’ service and the Boston to Lincoln route are being enhanced. The ‘Boston into Town’ service is to run on extended hours (7am to 7.30pm), while the Boston to Lincoln service is getting better connections, more journeys and an improved Saturday service.

“Brylaine is exceptionally happy to be receiving BSIP support from Lincolnshire County Council for our local bus services” – Marrianne Garbutt, Managing Director of Brylaine

Marrianne Garbutt, Managing Director of Brylaine, said: “Brylaine is exceptionally happy to be receiving BSIP support from Lincolnshire County Council for our local bus services, enabling us to deliver extended services on both Boston Town (B1A/B/C/D) and of course our flagship Boston – Lincoln – Boston (B5/B5A/B5X).”

The news follows PC Coaches starting a new service to increase the amount of bus options for Louth and the surrounding areas made possible due to BSIP funding. The company is now running two services between Louth and Mablethorpe.

“Simply, there has never been a better time to choose the bus” – Stephen Bryce, Managing Director at PC Coaches of Lincoln

Stephen Bryce, Managing Director at PC Coaches of Lincoln, said: “We originally took over the commercial operation of service 50 between Lincoln, Wragby, Louth and Mablethorpe in June 2023 because, when we discovered that there would potentially no longer be a direct bus between Lincoln and Louth, we were naturally concerned for these communities.

“As we are now approaching our first anniversary of operating the service, we have seen the passenger numbers grow. Because of that we have invested in modern state of the art low emission buses with the latest features to enhance our customers’ experience including Wi-Fi, air conditioning and at-seat USB charging.

“We are really excited to be working with our partners Lincolnshire County Council to introduce the next stage in the development of this important corridor which sees new 50A journeys from Monday to Saturday giving more communities such as Saltfleetby all Saints, Manby and Theddlethorpe St Helens a direct and regular bus service.

“We’re also providing extra Saturday journeys, giving customers a later bus back from Mablethorpe to Louth and Lincoln. Add all that is alongside the £2 capped adult single fare. Simply, there has never been a better time to choose the bus.”

BSIP boosts Stagecoach East Midlands services

BSIP funding made available by Lincolnshire County Council has made it possible for Stagecoach East Midlands to improve bus services in the county.

Several routes have become more frequent and more accessible thanks to the BSIP injection.

“We are pleased to see an immediate positive impact on the communities we serve with more pick-up and drop-off times and improved routes” – Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands

Matt Cranwell, Managing Director of Stagecoach East Midlands, said: “The funding received through BSIP allows us to enhance services, making bus transport more convenient and an obvious choice for those wanting to travel in and around Lincolnshire for a fraction of the cost of getting about by car.

“We are pleased to see an immediate positive impact on the communities we serve with more pick-up and drop-off times and improved routes. These changes will not only enable greater connectivity but provide people with more sustainable travel options.

“Stagecoach East Midlands continues to work closely with Lincolnshire County Council and other stakeholders to deliver regular, reliable, bus services across the region.”

Services in Gainsborough and Skegness have been enhanced using the money, along with night services introduced in Lincoln. The money has also been used to refurbish buses on Stagecoach East Midland’s Spalding to Kings Lynn 505 route. Upcoming BSIP project improvements include Service 59 from Skegness to Mablethorpe, which is to see a boost to its frequency.
