Van Hool sets up in Wellingborough

Van Hool is believed to have set up an aftersales operation in the UK, utilising its Wellingborough service site previously run as a satellite maintenance facility by Arriva Bus and Coach.

The future of the Arriva Bus and Coach dealership – which has Van Hool and Temsa as its two, core product ranges – is still unknown. The company is in the throes of a viability review, with parent company Deutsche Bahn, and some of its used stock is being sold by other dealerships.

The Van Hool operation in Wellingborough, which was to be extended by Arriva in September of last year (SEE FEATURE) is a modern workshop with multiple vehicle bays. It was previous run by Van Hool UK as its UK service point. When BCB visited last year, the workshop manager was Jason Hawkins, and it is believed he will be staying.

Van Hool’s Public Relations Manager told Bus and Coach Buyer that Van Hool is setting up a service facility which will be completed by the end of this year: “We have a long attachment to the UK market and we are determined to maintain our relationship with existing UK customers, and to ensure they still have support for our coaches,” said a spokesman.

Although unconfirmed, it is believed that former Arriva man Robert White is to head up the new Van Hool aftersales operation.
