‘Deckers withdrawn by TfL after fire
Transport for London has withdrawn a fleet of electric ‘deckers – believed to be Switch Metrodeckers – following a fire aboard on the vehicles on Route 200, near Wimbledon.
Operated by Go-Ahead, the vehicles have been withdrawn as a precaution, said TfL, which has suspended the use of the vehicles on Route 200 only. The fire at around 7am last Thursday was tackled by three fire engines and 15 firefighters.
Metrodeckers were also implicated in the Potters Bar depot fire two years ago. It is believed that there are around 85 Metrodeckers operating in London.
Local people said the fire was accompanied by an explosion. There are no reported injuries.
