Yourbus ceases operating

Derbyshire-based Yourbus has ceased operating.

The company provided buses in the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire area, as well as running coach trips and National Express routes.

A statement on the operator’s website said: “It is with regret to inform our passengers that unfortunately Yourbus has ceased trading as of 14/10/2019”

The message was posted prior to 14 October 2019.

Companies House listed Anthony Scott Dunn as a Director of Yourbus, who has Australia listed as his country of residence. Stephen Craig Ward is shown as retiring from his Director and Secretary positions at Yourbus on 29 September 2019.

The company is reported to have been in competition with Arriva Derby from the second half of 2016.

Derbyshire County Council secured nine operators to take over Yourbus bus services. They are: Littles, Hulleys, CT4N, High Peak, TM Travel, Stagecoach East Midlands, Stagecoach Yorkshire, trentbarton and Notts & Derby. They will be operating to the same route and timetable as Yourbus. The defunct company’s Y1, Y3 and Y5 services already have alternatives with other operators so have not been replaced.

Following the announcement, Derbyshire-based trentbarton advertised its vacancies to Yourbus staff on social media. Arriva advertised vacancies at its Derby depot to Yourbus staff via social media too.

trentbarton accepted all valid Yourbus tickets and products on 4 October. Arriva Midlands East held a ticket exchange for Yourbus customers. Staff from the operator were on-hand to at Derby Bus Station to swap any valid Yourbus Genie cards, weekly and 4-weekly tickets for a voucher that will provide a week’s unlimited travel on board all Arriva Derby services.
