Yeoman’s and DRM step in
Yeoman’s Canyon Travel and DRM Bus have stepped in to ensure the continuation of services of the outgoing First Midland in their area. First announced it was to shut down operations in Herefordshire earlier this month (see B&CB 1334, 3 July 2015). The news coincided with similar closure proposals for Bracknell and Newcastle-under-Lyne in the Potteries. It is to cease running in Hereford in September, with the other two companies taking over its services. Yeoman’s is to provide Hereford area services both commercially and with subsidy at similar times to the existing First routes. DRM will be covering journeys on service 420 between Hereford, Bromyard and Worcester.
First Midland currently operates the majority of commercial services in Hereford urban area comprising the following services: 71 Credenhill, 72 Bobblestock, 74 Newton Farm, 75 Belmont –Tupsley, 78,79,79A,88,88A Hinton, Putson, Redhill, Saxon Gate, Rotherwas. It also operates a council contract, which includes: 426 Bodenham, 437/477 Tillington, 446 Eardisley/Almeley and 453/454 Fownhope/Woolhope.
