Yellow Buses invests £1.6m

RATP Group owned Yellow Buses of Bournemouth has invested £1.6m in eight new Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini 3 double deckers based on the Volvo B5TL chassis. The operator is thought to be the first bus company in England to acquire the B5TL vehicles.

The new buses can carry up to 98 passengers (75 seated and 23 standing) and have leather seats and wood effect floors. They are equipped with the Volvo D5K 5litre Euro6 engine. Their arrival means that Yellow Buses will now be running 24 double-deckers on its flagship 1b and 1c routes, linking Poole and Christchurch/Somerford in Dorset.

MD, Yellow Buses, Andrew Smith, said, ‘These new double deckers will allow our passengers to travel in comfort and style on some of the most environmentally-friendly buses available anywhere in the UK. Our job is not just to get passengers to their location safely but ensure their journey is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Leather seats and wood-effect floors play an important role in this.’
