Wrightbus supports bus boost
Jo Bamford, head of Wrightbus, is pleased the Government has reiterated its plans for 4,000 zero-emission, UK-built buses.
Speaking in the West Midlands on the day he announced the National Bus Strategy, Prime Minister Boris Johnson re-emphasised the plans for the Government to spend £3bn on these vehicles.
Jo Bamford said: “It is fantastic news that the PM is moving forward with his plans to invest in 4,000 UK-made zero-emission buses.”
Commenting on his company’s hydrogen-powered buses, including the world’s first hydrogen double-decker, Bamford said: “These buses use world-leading manufacturing and innovation, enabling the entire union to lead a green industrial revolution. Our buses are essential for improving air quality across the UK – they only emit water.
“We welcome the PM’s urgency to deliver these buses and we have a shovel-ready plan, with our partners in National Express and Transport for the West Midlands, to get 200 hydrogen buses on the streets of Birmingham in time for next summer’s Commonwealth Games.”
