Williams’ Earned Recognition status is a Welsh first

Williams Coaches of Brecon has achieved the DVSA’s Earned Recognition status. It is the first PCV operator in Wales to earn the accreditation.

DVSA Earned Recognition is a voluntary scheme where operators have to pass an exacting audit to prove they meet high driver and vehicle standards. Operators that take part regularly share performance data with DVSA and in return will be less likely to be stopped for roadside inspections.

“Now we have Earned Recognition, we know where we are; we have certainty that we have everything in place and that everything is right” – John Williams, Director at Williams Coaches

Director at Williams Coaches, John Williams, told B&CB he is very pleased with the achievement: “We always strive to achieve as close to perfection as possible.”

The required audit for the official status was a tough process, he says: “There are so many different aspects of it that are in so many different people’s hands. But it’s all down to our members of staff, such as the drivers who all make sure they do their walkround checks and use their tachographs correctly. You can have shiny new vehicles, but it’s the staff that make the company.

We have been so busy since Covid; there has been so much change and restructuring. Now we have Earned Recognition, we know where we are; we have certainty that we have everything in place and that everything is right.”
