West Yorkshire reviews services 435/6

West Yorkshire Combined Authority is reviewing bus services 435 and 436, operated by Arriva owned Yorkshire Tiger. The routes run between Wakefield and Holmfirth via Skelmanthorpe and Denby Dale. Consultation sessions on the routes are being held until 6 October for local passengers who may be affected by the proposed changes. Comments from passengers will help shape any revisions to these services. Contracts will be awarded next spring for the new services to be in place by the end of May 2015.

Deputy Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Transport Committee, Cllr Eric Firth, said, ‘This Government has reduced the funding received by West Yorkshire’s Councils by hundreds of millions of pounds, which in turn means the Combined Authority has less to spend on bus services. We will be consulting local people extensively to ensure that we reduce the impact of these changes as far as we can.’
