West Coast Motors acquires Bowman’s

West Coast Motors has acquired Bowman’s Tours, the Mull based bus and coach tour operator. The deal is expected to ensure continuity for staff at Bowman’s and ongoing development of Mull, Iona and Staffa as key Scottish tourist destinations. The company will officially change ownership on 24 June 2013.

MD of West Coast Motors, Colin Craig, said, ‘Bowman’s has played an important role in tourism on The Isle of Mull since the mid-50s by providing visitors with the opportunity to tour the island as well as neighbouring Iona and Staffa and we are looking forward to continuing this role through building on their success with the newly established Mull Coach Tours brand as part of our company. The acquisition of Bowman’s Tours is an exciting development for our company and the main focus in coming months will be on highlighting to potential visitors just what world class destinations Mull, Iona and Staffa are with their unique blend of cultural heritage, natural beauty and abundant wildlife. Being able to now offer these tours also compliments our existing network of services in and around Oban, Argyll and Bute as well as those we operate to the area from Glasgow and our intention is to take advantage of these synergies to introduce more visitors to the wonders of these stunning  islands.’
 
MD of Bowman’s Tours, Jim Bowman, said, ‘Handing over ownership of a family owned business that has been in the family for many years has been made less difficult by the knowledge that West Coast Motors, another family owned business, is the ideal company to carry on what we have strived to achieve. As well as transferring our staff over to their company, their plans include improving what we currently offer through investment and linking in with their own services.’
