Volvo to launch electric coach this year?

Volvo Bus UK and Ireland Managing Director, Domenico Bondi, chose the UKCOA Conference to announce that Volvo is building an electric coach which will likely come to the UK in 2026.

The charismatic Italian gave a keynote address to members of the UKCOA, underlining the success Volvo Bus has had already with its BZL electric bus driveline, and how it continues to work with third parties such as Sunsundegui and MCV to create coach models. Currently, the line-up for the UK includes its flagship 9700 and 9900 single-decks, the Finnish-built 9700DD double-deck, MCV eVoTor – which gets a facelift this year – and the Sunsundegui range which will also include a significantly upgraded SC7 ‘New Generation’ based on the Volvo B13R chassis.

Mr Bondi gave no details of the electric coach in build except to say that the LHD version will likely appear first at World of Volvo – the Gothenburg showcase of the company – and may appear in the UK in 2026.
