VDL’s first double decker

VDL is developing its first double decker to meet the requirements of Berlin operator, BVG (Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe). The VDL Citea DLF (Double deck Low Floor) is expected to be delivered to the customer in the summer.

In developing the new vehicle, optimum use will be made of the modular system around which the Citea range is built. Due to the lightweight low floor construction, it has a low weight, which should result in excellent fuel economy and minimal emissions of harmful exhaust gases. It is being built with two sets of stairs with considerationt given to quick and comfortable passenger through flow. The 11.4m long vehicle will have a display that shows passengers how many seats are still available on the upper deck and will feature USB connections at every row of seats.
