Uno gets five MCV-bodied Volvo ‘deckers
Uno, the University of Hertfordshire-owned bus operator, is welcoming freshers onboard its five new Volvo B8L-based MCV eVoSeti double deckers.
The new additions were officially unveiled during this year’s Freshers Fair, ahead of going into service on the ‘de Havilland Express’ X10 route. The expansion increases capacity for Uno to bring students who live further afield, such as around the Luton area, into Hatfield.
Jim Thorpe, Managing Director at Uno, said: “Freshers is always a great time of year for the University, and for us, it’s always a pleasure to welcome students to their new home during their studies. Being able to coincide the celebration with the introduction of our new Volvos is even better this year!”
The University of Hertfordshire has supported the investment. Each of the Volvo B8L MCV eVoSeti buses features bespoke specifications, including Uno’s signature pink and purple livery. Esteemed designer Ray Stenning has collaborated closely with Uno on the design to reflect their commitment to quality and comfort. Designed to accommodate 98 passengers, these buses will significantly bolster Uno’s capacity to meet the growing transport demands of both students and the local community.
“These new vehicles enhance our ability to provide safe and reliable transport for our students” – Jim Thorpe, Managing Director at Uno
Thorpe continues: “These new vehicles enhance our ability to provide safe and reliable transport for our students, which is our top priority. The support we have and continue to receive from Volvo Buses has really helped us achieve our goals, and it’s reassuring to know we can rely on their comprehensive after-sales service.”
Powered by Volvo’s D8K Euro VI diesel engine delivering up to 350hp and 1,400 Nm of torque and driven through a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox, the buses have USB charging ports for passengers.
