Unique Volvos for Bath Bus Co
Bath Bus Company has ordered two new Volvo B9TL full open top double deckers with Unvi Urbis 25 bodywork, the first buses of their kind in the UK and Ireland. Almost 12m long, they will be powered by Volvo’s 260hp Euro5 D9B six cylinder engine. The bodywork with two doorways and two internal staircases will offer 76 seats, 53 on the upper deck and 23 on the lower deck. There is also additional space for wheelchairs, as well as ramped access. Part of the RATP Dev UK group, Bath Bus Company operates city tours in association with the Worldwide CitySightseeing organisation.
Bath Bus Company MD, Martin Curtis, said, ‘Traffic Regulation Conditions within Bath strictly control vehicle types, routes, bus numbers and stop dwell times. Therefore these new vehicles should significantly increase our opportunity for quick and safe passenger flows. An additional benefit with these new buses is that our technicians are already experienced in maintaining Volvo vehicles on a daily basis.’
