trentbarton goes live

trentbarton has launched its new ‘trentbarton live’ service, which offers smartphone and tablet users up-to-the-minute information on bus departure times for their current location. It will also provide information for customers at bus stops that are equipped with special screens. Over the coming months, more of these screens are to be installed across the operator’s network. The company’s existing website (www.trentbarton.co.uk) is being upgraded in order to show live departure times and GPS mobile users can use it to locate the nearest stops. It also provides information on services, including route maps and ticket offers. Additionally, the technology behind ‘trentbarton live’ will help the company know where its buses are at all times, improving operations. The system was supplied by Nottingham based INIT.

Trentbarton’s Commercial Director, Alex Hornby, said, ‘We’ve had some good feedback from customers about this system already, especially with comments on Twitter and Facebook. We had one Tweet from a school boy who said that thanks to trentbarton live he can have an extra half hour in bed in the mornings because he knows when his bus will come. We may be celebrating our 100th anniversary this year, but we certainly like moving with the times when it comes to improving our service for our customers and adopting the very latest technology!’
