Transdev trialling BYD ADL electric bus

Transdev is trialling a BYD ADL Enviro200EV on one of its most popular bus routes.

The bus is being tested on subsidiary The Harrogate Bus Company’s route 1 linking Harrogate and Knaresborough.

Since 2018, the operator already has eight opportunity-charged electric buses running in Harrogate. At the time of their introduction, the company was the only operator in Yorkshire to win funding of £2.25 million from the Government to create Britain’s first Low Emission Bus Town.

Transdev CEO, Alex Hornby, said: “This exciting, seven-day trial sees us running a British-built single-deck bus, manufactured by Alexander Dennis in partnership with the Chinese firm BYD, the world’s largest manufacturer of rechargeable batteries and new energy vehicles.
