Transdev buys British

Transdev has placed orders worth £3.5m for British-built buses.

The operator has ordered 21 new buses from ADL and Wrightbus. The Yorkshire and Lancashire operator’s 2019 bus purchases include five Wright Streetdeck double-deckers featuring luxury interiors for the Cityzap express service between Leeds and York. There will also be 13 ADL Enviro200 MMC single-deckers for The Blackburn Bus Company’s route 1, linking Blackburn with Darwen and Bolton with up to eight buses an hour. There will also be one bus for its 36 and two for Coastliner services.

Colin Robertson, Chief Executive of Alexander Dennis Limited, said: “When an award-winning operator like Transdev Blazefield chooses our Enviro200MMC single deck buses, it’s a resounding endorsement of our continual investment in product and technology development. It has been a pleasure to develop their amazing specification with the Transdev team. We will build these buses in the North of England at our Scarborough factory and Transdev will benefit from our best-in-class Aftermarket support.”

Chris Wise, Account Manager at Wrightbus, said: “Wrightbus are pleased to continue a long-established relationship with Transdev Blazefield with the purchase of these five ground-breaking Streetdecks. Working closely with the team at Transdev we have built on the award winning Coastliner and the 36 vehicles to provide the traveling public with the next level of comfort and innovation. These will be the first complete Wrightbus double-deck vehicles delivered to Transdev Blazefield and are due for completion later this year.”
