Transdev Blackburn depot open day

As part of the Blackburn Heritage Festival, Transdev is to open the doors to its Blackburn depot on 13 September. Visitors to will be able to take a ride on one of ten vintage buses at its Whitebirk Road site in Intack. A selection of the firm’s modern fleet will also be on display and there are to be tours of the depot’s engineering workshop. Other attractions include a bouncy castle, face painting, bus wash rides and food and drink stalls, as well as a staff tug-of-war and wet sponge throwing competitions. The free event, being held between 10.00 and 16.00, will raise money for the North West Air Ambulance and East Lancashire Hospice. Free parking will be available in all of the council car parks for the weekend and a free shuttle bus will be provided for transport to and from the town centre to the depot on the Sunday.

Transdev’s Development Director, Richard Jackson, said, ‘This year will be the first that Transdev has been involved with the Blackburn Heritage Festival, but as a company with our own rich history, we were very keen to support the events going on all around the town. We’re proud to be supporting the festival by giving a nod to the past, while also opening up our doors for people to see how a modern 21st century bus company is run.’
