Thandi takes first of two Volvos
Birmingham-based Thandi Red has received the first of two Volvo B8R MCV eVoTors.
With a growing emphasis on the coach sector, the latest addition is dedicated to the company’s cyclical route through England, Scotland and Ireland. The coach joins the fleet of 30 vehicles at its Smethwick depot, consisting of a mix of buses and coaches.
The new vehicles offer generous onboard luggage racks and feature 53 seats and a centre sunken freshwater toilet, which can be dismantled to allow for a total of 55 seats. Passengers can also benefit from individual USB charging points and a Bosch audiovisual system. The B8R has Volvo’s D8K engine, which produces up to 350hp and a peak torque of 1,585 Nm. This is driven through a 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission.
“The new eVoTor is a great addition to Volvo’s offerings, and it was the clear choice when we came to expanding our fleet” – Avi Thandi, Owner of Thandi Red
Avi Thandi, Owner of Thandi Red, said: “The new eVoTor is a great addition to Volvo’s offerings, and it was the clear choice when we came to expanding our fleet. With a diverse selection of regular routes across the UK, the comfort and safety of our passengers is a top priority – and a key reason behind our purchasing decisions. Drivers and passengers say that the new vehicle is spacious, smooth and comfortable, so we’re very happy so far and I look forward to receiving another eVoTor next year.
“As a family-led business, our service is what upholds our strong local reputation in our home city of Birmingham. This is why we choose to only work with brands like Volvo, offering a strong service network with a reliable point-of-contact on the rare occasion that we may need it.”
