TeddyBusz delivering aid to Ukrainian refugees
David Fricker, formerly of North Somerset Coaches, is delivering a coach-load of teddy bears, clothes and medicine to benefit Ukrainian refugees in Hungary.
The idea came to David when he encountered Ukrainian refugees while on the way back from a short break in Budapest. He spent time volunteering for the Hungarian Reform Charity.
When he arrived home he decided to seek sponsorship and support for the TeddyBusz venture. Greenslades of Exeter supplied him with a Volvo 9700 to carry out the journey. A team of helpers organised the nearly 7,000 cuddly toys, children’s clothing and other aid being provided. Brittany Ferries provided free ferry crossings.
TeddyBusz’s journey has been documented on its Facebook page.
David said: “The sponsorship and support has been amazing. Local coach operators in the Bristol area have been amazing and I have had lots of private donations. The local Waitrose gave us food for the journey too. The response has been amazing and overwhelming.”
David is now (16 March 2022) in Hungary and is awaiting his aid donations to be processed.
He passes on his thanks to all that have aided him in this venture.
