TC makes Cleator licence ruling

Fye’s Executive Travel, trading as Cleator Bus Cumbria, is to have its operator’s licence revoked with effect from 19 July 2019 at 23:59 hours. It has a standard vehicle operator’s licence for five vehicles. The decision was made by Simon Evans, Traffic Commissioner for the North West of England.

The revocation has been made due to maintenance issues uncovered by a Vehicle Examiner. It also transpired that the operator’s Transport Manager had left the business back in September 2018, a material change that had not been notified in a timely manner. At the time of the hearing nine months later, a nominated Transport Manager was still not in place. The operator’s repute has not been lost.

The Traffic Commissioner is likely to grant a restricted operator’s licence to coincide with the revocation, assuming the applicant has complied with all expectations of it. The Traffic Commissioner was satisfied of Cleator’s compliance with the main occupation requirements and financial standing requirements for such a licence, bearing in mind the lower sum needed.
