Talking Buses in House of Commons
Over 150 MPs and Peers joined Guide Dogs at a parliamentary reception at the House of Commons. The event was used to promote the charity’s Talking Buses campaign, which aims to introduce audio visual (AV) announcements on all buses across the country. Alongside a speech from guide dog owner Dave Kent, were speeches from Transport Minister, Baroness Kramer, and Shadow Minister, Mary Creagh, who recognised the difference that AV would make to passengers with sight loss. Baroness Kramer also outlined a new initiative by the DfT, which they hope will encourage the development of a cheaper AV system, making it even easier to roll out in fleets.
