Strong will to support UK bus manufacturing at parliamentary event, says APPG

A strong will to support the UK bus manufacturing industry was on display at a recent parliamentary event, B&CB has been told.

The parliamentary reception held by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for British Buses attracted over 80 attendees. The Secretary of State for was unfortunately unable to attend.

A representative from the APPG told B&CB: “We were pleased by the high turnout of industry, supply chain representatives and parliamentarians at the event. From our conversations with various stakeholders, it was clear that there is a strong will to support the UK bus manufacturing industry, and that this is regarded as an urgent and timely cause given the Spending Review and upcoming Industrial and Infrastructure Strategies.”

Conversations with supply chain representatives showed that they valued the opportunity to directly discuss issues they face with parliamentarians, and there was good engagement between constituency MPs and local business, the APPG reports.
