Streetdecks for Rotherham

First South Yorkshire has invested £5m in 22 new Wrightbus Streetdecks for services in Rotherham. As well as a new interior and exterior look, all the buses are fitted with E-leather seats and USB charging points. The Euro6 buses are part of an ongoing investment commitment by First South Yorkshire as part of the Rotherham Bus Partnership. The Partnership is aimed at delivering improvements in customer service and value-for-money to help attract more people onto public transport. The new buses operate on the Sheffield – Rotherham – Doncaster X78 route. They were launched at an event on Effingham Square by Rotherham Council’s Advisory Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, Cllr Denise Lelliott.

MD of First South Yorkshire, Kevin Belfield, said, ‘Our investment of over £5m in 22 new vehicles is great news for our customers and underlines our continuing commitment to provide ever better bus services as part of the Rotherham Bus Partnership work and encourage more people to travel by bus. These new vehicles are among the best and most eco-friendly in South Yorkshire. Passengers can enjoy pleasant, more comfortable journeys and keep connected on the move with our new USB charging points, whilst supporting the efforts of our local authority partners to improve air quality for all.’
