Steel’s 100th is a Barbi

The 100th coach to enter the fleet of Steel’s Coaches of Addingham, West Yorkshire since its establishment in 1940 is a Barbi. Commenting on why this vehicle was chosen, Proprietor Tim Steel said, ‘Quite simply, the Barbi Galileo 10.8m variant ticks all the boxes, perfect versatile size, 45 reclining seats and courier, two plug doors, excellent luggage capacity, full height and width and crucially a centre sunken toilet. Thus a full row of rear seats not obstructing passenger vision all round; in my book, a desirable concept, a coach I have been crying out for and telling dealers for such a long time. The size is reminiscent of the good old Bedford days.’

Matt Steel, Operations Director, continued, ‘I have to say the reception up to this stage from Nick Dodgson, Head of Coach Sales and the Aspinall family at Holmeswood (BASE coach sales) as well as Barbi has been absolutely first class, so much so, I am very optimistic and I have a great feel of faith in the whole entirety. For instance, Carrozzeria Barbi, an Italian family business of over 100 years standing, charming people with flair and passion purveying their industrial skills and pride to manufacture a bespoke coach, and not just a number – it’s my Ferrari!’
