Stagecoach reacts to hybrid working

Stagecoach is offering commuters with so-called ‘hybrid working’ patterns a new flexible travel scheme in Kent and East Sussex.

Bus passengers who travel less frequently will be able to purchase new ‘Flexi’ ticket bundles enabling them to choose what days to use their ticket. The scheme will benefit part-time workers or those who work from home and commute to the workplace less often than they did before the pandemic.

Following a successful trial in Ashford, the transport operator has expanded the scheme to cover all its services across the region.

The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a shift in commuter behaviour, as many workers balance work from home and in the office.

“We’ve been listening to our customers closely and it’s clear that there is a need for increased flexibility, particularly for commuters but also for leisure travel too” – Joel Mitchell, Managing Director at Stagecoach South East

Joel Mitchell, Managing Director at Stagecoach South East, said: “We’ve been listening to our customers closely and it’s clear that there is a need for increased flexibility, particularly for commuters but also for leisure travel too.

The world has changed in response to the pandemic and more and more people are able to choose when and how often they need to travel.

As a result, we have introduced the Flexi5 and Flexi10 options to give local people the flexibility they need and to ensure they can continue to get the very best value travel.”
