Stagecoach beats NatEx in football final

A team from Stagecoach has beat a squad from National Express in the final of the National Passenger Transport Sports Association (N.P.T.S.A) annual football tournament.

Held on Sunday 10 September 2023, the tournament consisted of six teams taking part from multiple transport operators from throughout the UK.

Stagecoach MSL depot – Gillmoss from Liverpool, took on National Express, West Midlands. With the First Challenge trophy up for grabs, in a close game, Gillmoss won the match 2-0, winning the tournament and taking home the trophy.

Team captain, Tony Moran, Acting Assistant Operations Manager at Gillmoss depot, said: “It was great day and an opportunity to come up against other operators on the football pitch. Winning the trophy was a great boost to morale, and we hope to the retain the trophy again next year.”

The N.P.T.S.A was founded in 1971 and is open to all people employed in passenger transport. As well as football, it organises angling, golf, cricket, darts and snooker competitions among other sports.
