SPS invests in 15 brand new purpose-built StreetDecks
First-Bus-owned Somerset Passenger Solutions (SPS) is investing in 15 new purpose-built Wrightbus StreetDecks.
The buses will be used on the operation’s routes serving the Hinkley Point C nuclear build project in Bridgwater. Continued growth at theconstruction site means more capacity demand has to be met.
SPS told B&CB the 83-seat StreetDecks have driver and passenger seat belts, driver climate control/air chiller, leather seats and CCTV to the interior and exterior.
In total SPS has 15 new Wrightbus StreetDecks and nine new AD Enviro400s.
Somerset Passenger Solutions was formed in 2016 as a joint venture between First Group and JJP Holdings, to serve the passenger transport needs of the largest construction project in Europe – Hinkley Point C. Since 2016, the bus operation has seen considerable growth. It began with 40 employees and eight vehicles, increasing to over 500 employees and over 150 vehicles. These figures are expected to increase further as its projects evolve and diversify.
