Southdown switching to Metrobus in September

Southdown Buses is to become part of Sussex-based Metrobus on 2 September 2023. From that date, all Southdown bus routes will be operated by Metrobus.

The news follows Southdown’s take-over by Go-Ahead-owned Brighton & Hove in February 2023, which administers the Metrobus-branded operation.

From 2 September, all Southdown bus routes will be operated by Metrobus. The change is scheduled to bring no difference to drivers or fares. The Southdown fleet is to gradually switch to Metrobus’ blue and green livery.

This upcoming change has been expected, with a spokesperson from Go-Ahead at the time of the acquisition of Southdown saying the acquired company will operate as a separate business unit before being subsumed into Metrobus over time.
