South East Bus Fest going ahead
Organisers of the annual South East Bus Festival are looking forward to this year’s postponed event going ahead at Kent Showground on Sunday 10 October. Once again, the event as part of the Kent County Agricultural Society’s Heritage Transport Show.
“With life now much nearer to normal than it has been over the past eighteen months, we hope that most of the event will be run along very similar lines to our previous bus festivals” – Richard Lewis, event co-organiser
Bus festival co-organiser, Richard Lewis, said “With less than ten weeks to go until this year’s bus festival takes place, we are excited to at last be able to celebrate our tenth event in the series which began as ‘M&D100’ way back in 2011 to celebrate the centenary of the former Maidstone & District bus company and which soon evolved into the South East Bus Festival.
“With life now much nearer to normal than it has been over the past eighteen months, we hope that most of the event will be run along very similar lines to our previous bus festivals, although we will ensure compliance with any Government regulations that may be in force at that time, in order to give a safe and enjoyable day out for our visitors, volunteers and participants.
“As usual, there will be a large number of sales stands in the huge exhibition hall, displays of model buses, slide shows, talks by guest speakers and the popular reunion tea room. All this alongside the Heritage Transport Show which attracts large numbers of cars, commercials, tractors and motorbikes, so something for everyone with an interest in road transport.”
The event will see buses old and new descending on Kent Showground, near Maidstone.
Admission to the event will cost £10 if booked in advance via the Kent County Agricultural Society website, or £12 at the gate on the day. Payments at the gate must be made by card. The admission tickets give access to both the South East Bus Festival and the Heritage Transport Show. Those under the age of 14 will be admitted free of charge and four free admissions will be given to all buses and coaches entering the site.
The 2022 South East Bus Festival is already confirmed as being held on 2 April.
