Salisbury Reds take over P&R

Go-Ahead owned Salisbury Reds has take over operation of the bus services to all five park and ride sites in and around Salisbury. When Hatts Coaches went into administration last year, Salisbury Reds took over three of the park and ride sites, with Stagecoach taking on the other two, pending the official tendering process. On completion of that process, Wiltshire Council awarded the full contract to Salisbury Reds. The operator is also to introduce a revised network for its bus routes, which MD, Andrew Wickham, said provides ‘many enhancements to the services we provide in Salisbury’. The majority of the services will change and/or start on 31 May.

Andrew Wickham said, ‘Current economic conditions make this a particularly challenging time for bus operators across the whole of the UK. But we have listened to our customers, invested more than £1.7m and are pleased to be providing improved services. Our team has been doing a tremendous job, since taking over many of the city’s park and ride services. And now we are extending that offering. We have been working closely with Wiltshire Council, not only to safeguard this essential facility – but to further enhance our other services here too.’
