Rainy Day Tickets
First Kernow is believed to be the first bus company in the UK to reduce fares when it is raining. The Cornwall operator announced that when there is a downpour its fares on its day tickets will automatically be half price, making them £6 for adults, £3 for children and £12 for a family group. ‘Rainy Day Tickets’ will be available when there is any rainfall when a passenger boards the bus, from a light drizzle to a monsoon. Initially, the offer will run from 24 July to 3 September 2016.
Business Director at First Kernow, Marc Morgan Huws, said, ‘Traditionally, people don’t venture out when the weather is poor and don’t travel on our buses. We’re giving locals and tourists alike an extra incentive to get and about Cornwall, even if it’s raining. When the umbrellas are up, the ponchos are on, and the windscreen wipers are doing ten to the dozen, there’s still every reason to get to the nearest bus stop and get out and about in Cornwall. The rules are simple. If it’s raining when you board the bus, you can ask the driver for one of our range of Rainy Day tickets. As well as giving our visitors and locals something to dispel the rainy gloom, our Rainy Day offer should give a boost to holiday attractions and tourist dependent businesses across Cornwall when the weather is against us.’
