Quaylink goes Pop

Go North East’s flagship QuayLink service has become the first in Tyne and Wear to accept the region’s Pop smartcards. The development is part of a major boost for integration between bus and Metro services. Buses on the Q1 and Q2 QuayLink routes connect Newcastle and Gateshead Quays and the vehicles on the service are now fitted with smartcard readers that will accept Pop cards loaded with a MetroSaver, a student MetroSaver, a 16-18 MetroSaver and corporate MetroSavers. The QuayLink bus service is already capable of accepting national concessionary travel passes and the Go-Ahead owned operator’s own smartcard product, the Key card.
