Prospect Coaches loses ‘the Gaffer’

The founder of Prospect Coaches, Geoff Watts, has passed away with his grandson Nathan Hadley and Nathan’s wife Claire Hadley-King at his side. He was 92.

“Grandad will always be remembered as the Gaffer by so many,” Nathan told Bus & Coach Buyer. “Still to this day, we have parents of current school children we transport telling us fondly of the Gaffer driving them to school. He was a passionate and hard-working man who will be forever associated with Prospect Coaches and the wider industry.”

Geoff is survived by son Glynne Watts with wife Sandra and their children Jason and Lyndsey, his son Grenville Watts and his children Kristian, Jenson and Sharna, plus grandson Nathan Hadley (son of Geoff’s daughter, the late Roslynd Hadley) and grandchildren Mathew and Rebecca Watts (son and daughter of Geoff’s son Lynton Watts)

The funeral will take place on Friday 3 January 2025 at St James Church, Wollaston, at 11:30 am followed by burial at Lye Cemetery. There will then be a celebration of Geoff’s life at Stourbridge Rugby Club from 12:30pm onwards.
