Preston trials radios

Rotala owned Preston Bus is trialling radios on its buses. They have been fitted to eight of its ‘flagship’ Wright bodied Volvo B5L diesel electric hybrid double deckers. The operator is using the standard Blaupunkt radio head with a USB port, which opens up future advertising opportunities for the company. They are all tuned to local (Preston based) radio station Rock FM. It intends to keep the radios already fitted playing for at least a year, during which time it will survey passengers regularly to gather their views on whether they think it is a good idea and what their preferred radio stations are. Depending on responses, it will look at fitting more buses with radios. According to the company, initial reaction has been largely positive and it is optimistic they will continue.
