Preston station designs displayed

A public vote has been held over designs for a new Preston bus station. Five anonymous entries were chosen recently by a judging panel and each design proposal has been worked on in more detail based on feedback. The architectural competition is being run by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) on behalf of Lancashire County Council and Preston Youth Zone. Almost 100 entries were submitted to the competition, which were anonymously judged by a RIBA appointed advisor. The winner is to be announced this summer. A multi-million pound investment in the Grade II listed bus station site is planned. The aim is to create a vibrant public space and a home for the new Preston Youth Zone while preserving the building’s brutalist architecture.
