Prentice Coaches celebrate 25 years

Multi award winning operator, Prentice Coaches of Haddington, has recently celebrated 25 years in the industry with a shortlist for another award.

Don Prentice started the business in 1991 with just one coach and the company now has a fleet of 20 buses and coaches ranging from 24 to 70 seats. The fleet also includes wheelchair accessible service buses and coaches.

In June 1991 they took their first group booking to Blackpool and have grown to provide bus services throughout East Lothian and the surrounding area as well
as transporting hundreds of children to school.

The company are finalists in the forthcoming Scottish Transport Awards for their 111-122 route, connecting East Lothian to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, one of four routes shortlisted for ‘Best Bus Service’.

Since its launch just over a year ago, the East Lothian Council contracted service has more than doubled passenger numbers, with more daily journeys being added and the route expanding to three vehicles running daily. Plans for further expansion and improvement of the route are being developed.

The company operate Scottish built Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 buses on the route, which were all bought new within the last eight months. Built to Prentice Coaches’ specification, the eco-friendly low carbon buses are fitted with free Wi-Fi and USB charging points.
