Parma’s new product reveals overheated wheels
Parma Group is unveiling a new product to indicate when a wheel overheats.
Parma’s Hot Spot Markers are small, colour-changing stickers designed to warn of a developing wheel end component failure by visually notifying the user of a hidden wheel issue that could otherwise be dangerous and costly.
Key Features
- Once the hub has exceeded 180° Celsius, the sticker turns orange.
- Once the sticker has turned orange, it will remain that way to help ensure it is not missed.
- Manufactured with durable materials and backed with 3M self-adhesive.
- The 32mm sticker is designed to be small enough to be discreet to the public but noticeable to those doing their wheel checks.
- It is designed to be easy to use – place on the external metallic side of the wheel hub bearing housing after light sandpapering and cleaning with an alcohol wipe.
Parma Group sourced the product as an answer to reports of wheel nut indicators designed to withstand high temperatures starting to melt, regardless of supplier and brand. It was found that the problem was not the indicator not working as intended, but that the wheel was experiencing faults. Vehicles that do not use such indicators could have issues go unnoticed for even longer, and those that do are wasting products.
“These stickers remove the element of the unknown regarding wheel temperature safety” – Parma Group’s Founder and Director, Marc Pittock
Parma Group’s Founder and Director, Marc Pittock, said: “These stickers remove the element of the unknown regarding wheel temperature safety. At 180 degrees, the hub is far too hot and is usually the result of a parts failure. We are proud to offer yet another product to enhance the safety of all road users, as well as keeping our customer’s repair costs down by catching these issues sooner.”
Parma’s Hot Spot Markers can be found on their website, and has the product code HOT-001. Priced at £3.05 per sticker, trade customers are also eligible for a discount on their accounts.
