Newport takes Stagecoach routes
Yutong electrics to occasionally run on new services
Newport Bus is extending its network from Chepstow to serve Beachley and Lydney in the Forest of Dean.
The operator is taking these routes over from Stagecoach who announced in early October that it is cancelling the services.
Newport Bus now operates two new routes from Chepstow; route C4 will be the new Chepstow town service serving Sedbury and Beachley and route 72 will be the new rural service to Lydney in the Forest of Dean, serving Tutshill and the villages to Lydney.
Newport Bus will operate the two new routes with a dedicated team of drivers to improve efficiency and quickly create a sense of familiarity. Its Yutong electric buses will be operating the routes at times, however it will be a mix of its diesel fleet and electric vehicles.
Alex Clarke, Commercial Officer for Newport Bus, said: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with Gloucestershire County Council to provide these new services. These routes complement our existing network in around Chepstow. We look forward to welcoming our new customers.”
