New Transdev Lancashire app
Transdev Lancashire has introduced a new smartphone app enabling passengers to buy bus tickets using their mobiles. They can then pay using a debit or credit card or by using the Barclays Pingit instant mobile payments service. Once they have paid, they can show their activated tickets on their smartphone to the driver as they board the bus. Free to install on Apple and Android phones, it can be used to buy one day, seven day and 28 day tickets for travel across the operator’s network. It also tells customers when their tickets expire using a countdown clock. The Lancashire Bus app has been developed by Corethree with support from Barclays.
Transdev’s Development Director, Richard Jackson, said, ‘We’ve introduced mobile ticketing on our Lancashire network to offer a more convenient service to passengers travelling around Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn, Burnley, Pendle and into Manchester. We appreciate that it’s not always possible to have the right change when catching a bus – now our customers don’t need to! Buying tickets with a mobile phone will also mean passengers can board the bus more quickly – all they have to do is show their M-ticket to the driver. This will certainly help us to make our services more efficient and get our passengers where they need to be on time. We hope that the investment and development of this new technology will encourage more people to travel by bus.’
