New St Cross Business Express

Go-Ahead’s Southern Vectis has launched the St Cross Business Express bus service on the Isle of Wight. The route runs between Newport and the St Cross Business Park. It operates weekdays, three times in the morning and three times in the evening, matching business start and finish times. The operator has worked closely with the Isle of Wight Council to access the Local Sustainable Transport Fund Initiative to create the service. It will run initially for a trial period of 11 months.Isle of Wight Council Executive member for sustainability, Cllr Luisa Hillard, said, ‘The Local Sustainable Transport Fund is not just about improving shared use paths or cycling facilities, it encompasses a lot more than that. The council has previously provided grant funding for a range of LSTF initiatives across the Island, including transport schemes. We are very pleased this latest grant will give the thousands of employees who work on or near St Cross Business Park the opportunity to leave their cars at home and use sustainable transport to get to work.’
