New Reading service passengers rise

Passenger numbers are continuing to rise on a new bus route in Reading. The 6a was recently introduced by Reading Buses to give shift workers at the Tesco distribution centre close to M4 Junction 11 a direct link along the Basingstoke Road to and from Reading Station seven days a week. The operator has also announced it is increasing its X9 Shinfield Park service. Introduced last September, it operates non-stop from Reading Station to Shinfield Park, the international headquarters of engineering consultancy Foster Wheeler. The bus leaves central Reading at 7.40 in the morning and is now regularly full to capacity. It is introducing two extra trips in mornings and evenings to meet this new demand from 7 April.
