Neoplan strategy review

Following reports in the German press of the discontinuance of Starliner production, Ian McLean, MAN’s UK Head of Bus and Coach has confirmed that MAN is adapting its range of Neoplan products to meet changing customer demands across Europe. It will be phasing out the Starliner at some stage, probably at the end of 2015. Going forward, the focus appears to be on double-deck to the exclusion of SHD, the latter sector having been in continuous decline for some years. From the UK perspective, MAN are still able to take Starliner orders but this will cease when production lead times dictate, precisely when that will be is not yet known.
MAN has also clarified that the only change to P21 Tourliner options on the advent of Euro6 is that the 53 seat, no toilet option on the 18t chassis will no longer be offered, a variant that accounted for no more than five percent of UK sales.
