NCT’s ‘outstanding’ OFSTED report

Nottingham City Transport’s (NCT’s) Apprenticeship programme for trainee bus drivers has been graded as ‘outstanding’ by education standards agency, OFSTED. ‘The best example of in-house vocational training I’ve come across’ was how OFSTED’s lead inspector described it. the organisation highlighted NCT’s tutor knowledge, practical driver training and resources to support teaching and learning as areas of the Apprenticeship that were exceptional. But they also commended NCT’s approach to the development of learners’ functional skills, with success rates in English and maths deemed as ‘outstanding’.

NCT’s Training and Development Manager, Mike Lee, said, ‘We work closely with our partners Care Training East Midlands to ensure our learners gain a high level of knowledge and skills which they’ll be able to bring to any role throughout their working life, though of course our priority is to ensure they secure employment with NCT in the first instance!’
