NatEx concessionary pass scheme pilot

National Express has selected Southampton as the place to pilot a scheme that will see senior concessionary bus pass holders save money on coach travel. The coach company has worked in close partnership with Southampton City Council and its My Journey initiative to bring forward the project. It sees anyone issued with a senior concessionary bus pass automatically entitled to a 20% discount on coach fares. If successful, the initiative could be rolled out across the country.

MD National Express UK Coach, Tom Stables, said, ‘This is a pioneering project with Southampton City Council – the first of its kind in our 40 year plus history – and it puts the city ahead of the curve nationally with the increased provision of affordable travel for residents. Southampton is an important location to us as a business and we are delighted to be able to invest in the city to the benefit of its residents in this way. We hope the success of this scheme will herald its launch on a UK basis.’
