Marcopolo Australia formed

Marcopolo SA has announced the formation of Marcopolo Australia. The new business will begin its operations from the end of this month and is focused on marketing Marcopolo bus brands in the Australian market. The formation of the Australian arm is part of the Brazilian company’s strategy to expand its presence in Australia and help meet the needs of transport operators in the country. The company took its first step in building a presence Down Under with the acquisition of a 75% stake in Volgren, the Melbourne based manufacturer, last year. Gabriel Tesser has been appointed General Manager of the company. The first official Marcopolo Australia product launch will be during the Australia Bus & Coach Show 2013 on 25 and 26 September in Sydney. It is to present the first bus model it plans to sell in the Australian market. It will operate independently of Volgren and also provide after sales service nationwide.

CEO of Marcopolo SA, Jose Rubens de la Rosa, said, ‘Our goal now is to launch world class products, with different technologies and complementary to the current line of Volgren, to further strengthen our presence in the region and offer new options to customers.’
