Lothian wins VIBES award
Lothian Buses has won the Transport category of this year’s VIBES Awards in recognition of the progress it has made in reducing its environmental impact. VIBES (Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland) celebrates the commitment, actions and achievements of Scottish companies in reducing their impact on the environment. The ceremony was held earlier this month at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow. It saw Lothian Buses chosen from a shortlist of four as a business that has achieved a significant, measurable reduction in its environmental impact through the introduction of sustainable transport practices. The company introduced Scotland’s first double deck Euro5 hybrids in 2011 and since then a further 70 hybrids have joined the fleet, representing a total investment of £18.5m. Currently 66% of the fleet is meeting Euro5 or above emission standards.
