King Alfred announce New Year’s running day

King Alfred buses will once again be providing free rides over their traditional routes around Winchester on New Year’s Day.

Provided by the Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB), the King Alfred buses will operate from the Broadway over local routes, covering Weeke, Harestock, Stanmore, Oliver’s Battery, Winnall, Springvale as well as to Sparsholt and Sutton Scotney. Beyond that, some visiting buses are due to provide additional journeys to the historic town of Alresford, while an innovation this year will be a regular connection to and from Fareham, where the Provincial Society is running a similar event in that area.

The bus services will be centred on the Broadway in Winchester (which has been the bus terminal for more than 100 years) with the first journey leaving at around 9.15am and the last just after 4pm.
