Kavanagh joins Stagecoach

Former TfL Director, Clare Kavanagh, has been appointed Service Development Director at Stagecoach Group’s UK Bus division, making her a member of the company’s UK Bus Board. For the past 12 years, Clare has been TfL’s Director of Performance, Surface Transport, with responsibility for the strategic development of the capital’s bus network. In her new role, she will be responsible for a range of development projects, including driving forward the operator’s smart ticketing strategy and associated engagement with local councils and metropolitan transport authorities. Clare previously undertook a six month secondment with Stagecoach’s UK Bus division in 2006-07 where she further developed the company’s partnerships with local authorities and also focused on improving service delivery to bus passengers.

MD of Stagecoach UK Bus, Robert Montgomery, said, ‘Clare has an excellent track record of making improvements that benefit passengers. She has a real understanding of the importance of partnership between operators and transport authorities and the need to deliver sustainable solutions. Clare’s experience of the key role that smart ticketing can play in attracting more people to greener, smarter bus travel will be invaluable as we look to build on the strong platform we have put in place.’

Commenting on her departure from TfL, MD for Surface Transport at TfL, Leon Daniels, said, ‘During her 12 very successful years as Performance Director the bus service has been truly transformed into the world class service we have today. The number of passengers using buses in London has increased by 65% over this time for which Clare deserves much of the credit. The whole organisation wishes Clare great success for the future.’
