Jason Edwards and Paul Harper join CTA board

Jason Edwards, Managing Director of coach operator Jason Edwards Travel, and Paul Harper, Commercial Director at coach and hotel operator Daish’s Group, have joined the Coach Tourism Association’s (CTA) board of directors. The new appointments have added considerable coach operator experience to boost CTA’s work in growing business opportunities for members and promoting coach tourism.

Jason Edwards launched Jason Edwards Travel early last year, establishing a 19-strong coach fleet with bases in Heathrow and Pontypridd to provide coach holidays, as well as coach hire and National Express route operation. After 13 years as an aircraft engineer, Jason moved into the coach travel and tourism sector, completing 20 years managing a large coach operator before launching his new venture.

Jason says: “I have immense pride in being asked to join the CTA board, an organisation I have history with back to its founder members of Joy Perrett, Margaret Palmer, Sally Andrews, and Jane Duffelen, who I had the great pleasure of knowing and working with. I have experience managing a large coach operation, and I also understand the challenges of starting a new coach business, so I’d like to bring this background to support fellow CTA members. Something that particularly excites me about joining the CTA board is the variety of experiences of fellow board members, who together will bring forward new ideas to promote the industry.”

Paul Harper has 20 years’ experience in the tourism sector, currently as Commercial Director with Daish’s Group, a family owned and operated hotel and coach operator, where Paul has worked for nearly ten years. Paul is a qualified Transport Manager and amongst other responsibilities, heads up the coaching operation for Daish’s, which includes the operation of the group’s fleet of 35 coaches.

Paul says: “I’ve found that the tourism industry is simply packed full of amazing businesses and people, all of whom are committed to providing great experiences for our customers – it really is a people business. No two days are ever the same, and I think it’s that challenge that keeps so many of us working year after year.”

Commenting on the new appointments to the CTA board, CTA Chair, Robert Shaw, says: “The addition of Jason Edwards and Paul Harper to CTA’s board brings great strength to the organisation. Paul and Jason are well known in our industry because of the experience, skills, and capabilities they bring. They know how to create and manage successful businesses, and this knowledge will be a great asset to assist fellow CTA members.”
